The Plunge red light panel is an optional add-on for the infrared sauna, designed from the ground up to complement a sauna session rather than just sit alongside one. Here’s what sets it apart and what you’re actually getting.
Seven Wavelengths, Not Two
Most consumer red light panels offer two wavelengths — typically 660 nm red and 850 nm near infrared. The Plunge panel delivers seven distinct wavelengths: 480, 630, 660, 810, 830, 850, and 1060 nm. Each wavelength interacts with tissue differently and at different depths, meaning a single session covers ground that a standard two-wavelength panel simply can’t.
Independent Channel Control
The blue, red, and near infrared channels can each be dimmed independently from 0 to 100%. You’re not locked into a single preset — you can dial in the exact combination that works for your session or your goals.
NIR Pulsed at 40 Hz
The near infrared channel can pulse at 40 Hz rather than running as continuous light. Pulsed NIR at this frequency is an area of active research interest, with some studies exploring potential effects on neural and cognitive function.
High Irradiance Output
Irradiance — the density of light energy hitting a given area — is one of the most important specs for a therapy panel. A panel that looks bright but delivers low irradiance isn’t going to do much. The Plunge panel delivers over 200 mW/cm² at 3 inches, and maintains strong output at the distances you’d actually use it from across a sauna door.
Built for the Sauna Environment
Most red light panels are designed for home office or bedroom use. The Plunge panel is IP65 rated, meaning it’s fully sealed against dust and protected against low-pressure water jets — appropriate for the high-heat, potentially humid environment of a sauna in active contrast therapy use.
