Objective

To ensure proper sauna functionality, it is critical to follow the correct electrical specifications when preparing your installation space. This guide provides all necessary electrical details for your electrician to set up power correctly.

⚠️ Important: Every Plunge Infrared Sauna requires its own dedicated circuit — no other appliances or devices may share it — and the sauna must be properly grounded. Operating the sauna on a circuit that does not meet the specification for your model voids the Limited Warranty.

Electrical Specifications by Model

The Standard model is sold as "The Infrared Sauna"; both Pro configurations are sold as "The Infrared Sauna Pro."

⚠️ A 15-amp circuit is not sufficient for any Plunge infrared sauna model. The sauna will trip the breaker almost immediately when the heaters draw full current. If you are unsure of your circuit's amperage, check the number stamped on the breaker switch in your electrical panel, or have an electrician confirm.

Do I need an electrician?

Your sauna's dedicated circuit and outlet must be installed by a licensed electrician. If the correct dedicated circuit and outlet are already in place and confirmed to meet the specification above, no new electrical work is required.

This most often comes up with the Standard model, which uses a household-style plug. Note that it still requires a NEMA 5-20 outlet rated for 20 amps — not the 15-amp outlets found in most rooms — on a dedicated circuit. Dedicated 20-amp outlets are most common in kitchens, laundry rooms, and garages. If you are not certain what you have, have an electrician confirm it before delivery.

What "Dedicated Circuit" Means

A dedicated circuit means one breaker serves one outlet, and only the sauna is plugged into it. In most homes, multiple outlets share a single circuit, and that wiring can run across rooms or even floors — so an outlet that looks unrelated may actually share power with your sauna.

A 20-amp circuit delivers 20 amps in total, not 20 amps per outlet. If your sauna is drawing current and another appliance on the same circuit (a space heater, hair dryer, microwave, or vacuum) draws at the same time, the combined load will trip the breaker.

To confirm your circuit is dedicated:

• Turn off the breaker for the sauna outlet at the panel.
• Walk through your home and note which outlets and lights stopped working.
• Anything that stopped working shares the circuit — and the circuit is not dedicated.

Power Cord & Outlet Placement

✅ The main power supply cord is factory-installed on your infrared sauna. It is a UL-listed flexible cord fitted at the factory, and it is not user-serviceable.

• Have the outlet installed at the sauna's final location before assembly begins. The sauna cannot be repositioned after assembly without disassembling it, so confirm the outlet position first.
• Do not use an extension cord. Extension cords add resistance, generate heat, and create voltage drop — all of which can cause breaker trips, performance issues, and fire risk.
• Do not modify or replace any electrical cable. All wiring is factory installed. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

📌 Red Light Therapy Panel owners: the panel has its own cord, which routes down through the floor grommet, underneath the sauna, and up at the rear of the unit, where it plugs into the outlet labeled "Red Light." Do not connect any other device to that outlet. The Red Light outlet is inactive until you activate it — with the sauna powered on, press and hold the Accent and Chromotherapy buttons together for 5 seconds. Installation Recommendations

• Hire a licensed electrician to install the dedicated circuit and outlet to the specification for your model.
• Confirm the sauna is properly grounded.
• Do not connect the sauna through a shared, undersized, or unverified circuit, even temporarily.
• Have the circuit ready before delivery so nothing holds up your first session.
• Do not attempt to repair any electrical component. Electrical components may only be serviced by a licensed electrician or trained service provider.
• Share this article with your electrician to avoid setup issues and ensure compliance with electrical requirements.

Warranty Notice

🚨 Meeting these requirements is a safety matter. Your manual states that failure to meet the electrical requirements may result in serious injury or death.

Operating the sauna without a dedicated circuit of the amperage specified in your user manual will void the Limited Warranty. So will repairs or attempted repairs to the heating elements, control box, or wiring by anyone who is not a licensed electrician or service provider.
