Winterization (Plunge 1st Generation)

As winter approaches, it's essential to properly drain and winterize your Plunge to prevent any freezing damage. This comprehensive guide will walk you through the necessary steps:

Step 1: Power Down the Plunge:

• Before starting the drainage process, ensure the entire plunge system is powered down for safety.

Step 2: Disconnect the Water Filter Canister:

• Begin by disconnecting the water filter canister and draining it. Set it aside for storage inside when you prepare your Plunge for winter.

Step 3: Disconnect the "In" and "Out" Chiller Connections:

• Properly disconnect the "In" and "Out" chiller connections from the chiller.

Step 4: Open the External Drain:

• Locate the external drain underneath the electrical box and turn the red ball valve to open it.

Step 5: Manage Water Flow:

• Note that you may need to use a hose to redirect the water or utilize an inline water pump if the hose is above the external drain. The water drains through gravity, so ensuring a smooth flow is crucial.

Step 6: Fully Drain the Plunge:

• Even after the water stops coming from the external drain, there may still be water inside the underneath plumbing. To completely drain the Plunge, you have two options:

• First Method: Disconnect the pump and use a shop vac to suck the water from the bottom of the system.

• Second Method: Carefully turn the Plunge upside down so that the water can drain from the drains and jets inside the Plunge.

Step 7: Store Your Plunge:

• Once your Plunge is completely drained, store it upright with the spa cover clipped on.
