How to Clean Your Infrared Sauna

Keeping your sauna clean is straightforward and doesn’t require any special products. A little routine maintenance after each session goes a long way toward keeping the interior fresh, the wood in good condition, and your sauna performing at its best for years to come.

⚠ Important: Always allow the sauna to cool completely before cleaning. Never use harsh chemical cleaners, bleach, or abrasive scrubbing pads on any interior surface — these can damage the wood and fabric.

Bench

The bench sees more contact than anywhere else in the sauna, so it benefits the most from consistent upkeep.

  • After each session: Wipe the bench down with a damp cloth to remove sweat and moisture. This is the single most effective habit for keeping your bench in good shape.
  • Perspiration stains: Light staining from sweat is completely normal with wood sauna benches and nothing to worry about. If stains bother you, they can be removed by lightly sanding the affected area with fine-grit sandpaper, working with the grain of the wood.
  • Protecting the bench: Laying a towel down before sessions is the easiest way to keep the bench clean and extend its life. A washable bench pad or bench cushion works just as well if you’d prefer more coverage.

Floor

The floor picks up foot traffic, dust, and debris over time. A quick monthly clean keeps it from building up.

  • Monthly: Use a vacuum with a hand or brush attachment to remove any dust or debris that has collected along the floor and into the corners.
  • As needed: Wipe down the floor with a damp cloth to clean up any spills or moisture after use.
  • Important: Use the provided floor mat to significantly ease the process of floor cleaning.

Walls

The interior walls generally stay clean with minimal effort.

  • Wood panels: Wipe down with a lightly damp cloth as needed. For any marks or staining that won’t wipe away, light sanding with fine-grit sandpaper will restore the surface.
  • Fabric: Use a vacuum brush attachment or a lint roller to remove dust and debris from the fabric heater panels and wall surfaces. Avoid getting fabric panels wet.

Glass

The glass door and panels can be cleaned with standard household products.

  • Exterior glass: Your preferred glass cleaner works perfectly. Spray and wipe as you would any glass surface.
  • Interior glass: Avoid chemical glass cleaners on the inside — a cloth dampened with water is all you need. This keeps any cleaning residue from getting into the cabin air during your next session.

Heater Panels

The tower heater panels can attract dust over time. Keep them clean for optimal performance.

  • Routine dusting: Run a lint roller over the felt surface or use a vacuum with a brush attachment to remove any dust buildup from the heater panels. Do this with the sauna powered off and fully cooled.

Tip: A quick wipe-down after each session and a more thorough clean once a month is all it takes to keep your sauna in great condition. The less buildup you allow, the easier each clean will be.
