Deep Clean Any Plunge Cold Plunge

This self-service procedure works with every Plunge cold-plunge model. Complete it once a year for regular maintenance, or once to clear buildup that causes persistent low flow or a CF error.

Important safety rule

Never run your Plunge without a filter during normal use or troubleshooting. Filterless operation can damage the chiller.

The rinse in Part 2 is the only approved filterless run. It lasts only 5 to 10 seconds and is allowed only after the hot cleaning cycle has circulated overnight for at least eight hours and you have drained and rinsed away the loosened buildup.

What you need

• One 16 fl oz (473 mL) bottle of Oh Yuk Jetted Tub Cleaner, or a similar low-foaming jetted-tub plumbing-line cleaner
• A water-safe thermometer
• Household degreaser
• A sponge or cloth
• A clean filter
• Your normal Plunge sanitizer

If you use a similar line cleaner, follow its label for the amount. Do not combine sanitizer with the line cleaner.

Before you begin

Read all steps before starting. Commercial and auto-doser models have required preparation and restart steps. Use your model-specific deep-clean page for those steps, then return here for the common cleaning procedure.

Part 1: Run the hot cleaning cycle overnight

1. Pause the Plunge, unplug it, and drain the tub.
2. Wipe the tub with household degreaser. Rinse thoroughly so the degreaser does not cause foam.
3. Fill the tub to two inches above the highest jet or drain.
4. Heat the water to 101°F to 104°F. Do not exceed 104°F.
5. Add one full 16 fl oz bottle of Oh Yuk Jetted Tub Cleaner. If you use a similar low-foaming line cleaner, follow its label for the amount.
6. Turn the Plunge on. Set it to 100°F or the highest available setting so it does not intentionally chill the water.
7. Let the cleaner circulate overnight for at least eight hours.
8. Pause and unplug the Plunge. Drain the dirty water, wipe out the loosened buildup, and rinse the tub thoroughly.

Part 2: Run the 5 to 10 second filterless rinse

1. Refill the tub with clean water until the water is above the jets.
2. Keep the Plunge unplugged and remove the filter.
3. Plug in and start the Plunge. If debris comes out, unplug it immediately. Otherwise, stop and unplug it after no more than 10 seconds.
4. Do not repeat the filterless rinse.

Finish the deep clean

1. Drain and rinse away the released debris.
2. Install a clean filter.
3. Refill the tub above the jets and restart it normally.
4. Confirm normal water flow and check whether the CF error has cleared.
5. Add sanitizer according to your normal Plunge water-care instructions. Do not combine sanitizer with the line cleaner.

If flow is still restricted

Do not run the Plunge without a filter again. If flow is still restricted or a CF error remains after one complete deep clean, pause the Plunge and contact Plunge Support. Include a photo of the error and a short video showing water flow with the clean filter installed.
