Objective
If your UKU Controller displays a "Door Open" error message, this means the sauna believes the door is open, preventing the heater from turning on.
Follow the basic troubleshooting steps below before reaching out to support for more in depth troubleshooting.
Step 1: Inspect the Magnet, Probe, and Harness Connections
π The door sensor operates using a magnet and a magnetic probe. When the sauna door is closed, the magnet and probe must create a connection to signal that the door is shut, allowing the heater to turn on.
β What to Check:
-
Ensure the magnet and probe are properly aligned.
- The magnet and probe must be within Β½ inch (12mm) of each other when the door is closed.
-
Positioning matters! The edge of the magnet should NOT be directly above the center of the probe.
- There is a dead spot in the center of the probe where a connection cannot be made.
- Best practice: Align the edge of the magnet near the edge/side of the probe for proper connection.
- (Insert image: Correct and incorrect magnet/probe alignment.)
-
Check the harness connections.
- There are two harness connection points that must be secure for the sensor to communicate properly:
- One under the bottom door beam.
- One behind the wooden electrical box in the back right corner of the sauna (when looking in from the outside).
- Unplug and firmly reconnect both harnesses to ensure a solid connection.
-
Gently wiggle the wires where they enter the harnesses to check for loose connections.
- If a wire is loose, the sensor may fail to communicate with the UKU Controller.
- There are two harness connection points that must be secure for the sensor to communicate properly:
π¨ If the door sensor components are misaligned, loose, or disconnected, the UKU Controller will continue to display the "Door Open" error.
Step 2: Reset the UKU Controller to Default Settings
π Sometimes a communication error occurs between the door sensor and the UKU Controller. Resetting the UKU Controller to factory default settings can often resolve this issue.
β How to Reset the UKU Controller:
- Follow the step-by-step guide here:
π How to Reset the UKU Controller to Factory Defaults -
After resetting, you must re-enable and disable a few settings for proper sauna functionality.
- These settings will be covered in the reset guide linked above.
