If your glass door is sitting crooked, rubbing against the frame, or not closing flush, the hinges need to be readjusted. This is a two-person job — you’ll need someone to hold the door steady while you work the hinges.
Please take photos or videos at each step of the troubleshooting process. If we need to order replacement parts, our Support team will use these to process your warranty claim.
Step 1: Check the Hinge Bases
Before adjusting anything, take a look at both hinge bases — the pivot points at the top and bottom thresholds. Confirm each one is properly seated inside its recessed cutout in the wood threshold. A hinge base that has shifted out of its cutout will cause the door to sit unevenly regardless of how the hinges are adjusted.
Step 2: Realign the Door
Tip: Have a second person hold the glass door throughout this process. A glass door under adjustment can shift unexpectedly, and having it supported prevents it from swinging or falling.
- Loosen the bottom hinge cover. Using a hex key, unscrew the hinge cover on the bottom hinge.
- Loosen the top hinge cover. Repeat with the top hinge cover. With both covers loosened, the door should have some freedom to move.
- Reposition the door. With your helper holding the door, adjust it until it sits evenly in the frame and closes flush with the surrounding glass panels.
- Tighten the hinge covers. Once the door is in the right position, tighten both hinge covers back down securely with the hex key.
Note: If the door doesn’t move at all even with both hinge covers loosened, the top hinge may be putting too much pressure on the glass to allow adjustment. In that case, use a Phillips screwdriver to slightly loosen the 2 screws securing the top hinge to the top threshold. This will relieve enough pressure to let you reposition the door. Once aligned, retighten those screws before tightening the hinge covers.
Step 3: Test the Door
Open and close the door several times to confirm it moves smoothly, closes flush, and the magnets make full contact. If it still feels off, repeat the adjustment with small corrections until it sits right.
If you’ve worked through the steps above and the door still isn’t aligning correctly, contact Plunge Support for further guidance.
